I saw something on the acu site that might work
www.acu.org.uk under member benefits.

It's not cheap, so may be less to keep the road insurance and tax

This should link straight to the ad.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but can't you insure it as normal?
I've had a bike insured while it's on a SORN with no probs.

Bit difficult to have the thing MOT's and taxed when it's running on slick tyres, no lights of any description and doesn't even have a speedo, hence the dilemma.

Looks like I'm going to have to bolt all the road stuff back on, borrow someones wheels and road tyres, MOT, tax and insure it.

All I wanted was fire and theft, you wouldn't believe it could be that difficult.

Does it need to be taxed and MOT'd before you can insure it? You cant tax it without insuracne so you must be able to get insurance without tax. If it gets nicked what has the MOT got to do with that? I think if it went to court then would have a job getting out of it by saying it wasnt MOT'd. Have you spoken to your currnet insurers? Just tell them you are putting it into long term off the road storage so it will be SORN'd and not MOT'd
