So how much do you reckon a front brake lever is?

The standard Brembo alloy one (OK, I know it's not *really* alloy, it's monkey-metal, but that's another matter) with the span adjuster. I'm talking about the genuine part, not a pattern copy.

I bought one , from an official Ducati dealer, in 2002 for £11.64 + VAT (I have the invoice in front of me).
Phoning around now, people are asking about £37 +VAT.

That's one hell of an increase!

Or was I charged wrong before?

You were definitely charged wrong mate - they've never been much cheaper than 35 quid

As DJ says, nothing wrong with pattern parts in this case.

There are always pairs on ebay:

Still a lot cheaper than the one for a AP adjustable ratio Radial Master cylinder which will set you back over £110
