Thanks for that and yes you could concider fitting a 20mm pin but then the rods would have to come off, shells, ti bolts £400 pounds later.
and then the cost of the bushes and new 20mm pins and then working out how to make up 1mm in the pistons or change the pistons as well. a shed load of cash

so the best bet is just to find a 21mm pin i have a couple of people looking but no luck as yest nd its the only thing stopping me putting together the engine.

But i have the rear head gasket to do on the 916 bip so i will pull the SP off the stand shelve it and wait.

I remember Graham Goodyear trying to find a set of 955 pistons with a 21mm wrist pin and couldn't find any despite all his contacts from years racing a Ducati and helping out the Moto Rapido race team.
I took sympathy on him and let him have my spare set, but that it I have no 955 corse spares left to dispose of.

955 pistons are not a problem! in fact you give me an idea.
TTS are advertising 955 pistons and as you can only bore the 916 to 933 they must be for the 916 SP as they can be bored to 955. sooo worth a phone call.

Question

Is it worth experimenting to find if there's something else out there in the world that is a same sized fitment?

These guys sell 21mm gudgeon pins: http://www.imdpistons.com/
They advertise them on ebay for Honda CX500 so if you gave them some measurements they may be able to match something up or even make them according to the website!

If they're like rocking horse poop, get a batch made up and sell them all on ebay
