851 clutch drag

hi,
i have a 91 851 strada and when i pull the clutch in half way the gear engage ok but if i pull it in fully i get a whole heap of rattle and drag, ive ignored it up until now (3 years) but the funds are available to look into it now and if needs be fix it. so is this the normal or down to doing only 500-1000 miles or a more serious problem somewhere?
cheers rob

Hi Eddie,
I'd start off by taking all the plates out and cleaning up the whole assembly.
While you're at it you will be able to see if the drum or basket is badly notched or if any of the tangs on the plates have got too badly distorted.
It will probably take less time to strip the clutch plates out than it does to get the fairing off!
