Open clutch or not?

As you all know by now.. I have no clue about what is best for my bike. And, having just bought one, I feel the need to spend some money on some bits.

Are there any advantages, dis-advantages to having an open clutch cover?

What about cleaning/washing? Do you have to avoid getting it wet?

cheers

Mark

Open clutch cover

Have a search on the old message board as there are many pro's/con's answered about open covers

as for keeping it dry whilst washing - try a showercap over the cover

had an open clutch cover for over 3 years &

30,000 miles - no worries - no need to cover when washing either - the centrifugal forces dry it out in no time!

Sounds awesome and keeps it running cool.

Here is one I prepared earlier . . .

i just bought a half open clutch cover and it looks really good. Trouble is the original fascia plate looks crap so i bought another one to replace it and sprayed the springs black. It looks good and sounds even better

That kind of "cage" is to protect your toes from becoming hamburger meat. It's not designed to protect the clutch.
