St4s Engines

Does antone know how to tell the ST4s engine from the plain 4? I am looking around for a 4s engine and by the time I get to the breakers I am sure they'll tell me anything they want. Did the engine numbers change or have they have a particular identifying clue in the number?

Thanks, Rob

The engine itself is painted a light grey colour instead of the dark colour on the St4 and ST2. The capacity is also usually stamped on the crank cases somewhere.

How did you get on with CMC Andy?

Paul.

Follow up for Andy

Andy,

Thanks for your engine model designation response. I'm going to have a look at a motor on Weds and was wondering if you know what the other (st2, st4) engine type codes are.

Thanks, Rob

Rob:-

Here is a really good source of info for the ST2 / 4 / (some) 4s stuff - it may be worth looking at...

Sorry Rob, sold the ST2 so I don't have an engine to look at! Wouldn't be too suprised if they had 944 / 916 in the number though.

Paul- the hiccup is now in the process of being sorted to my satisfaction after a few more "exchanges of diametrically opposed viewpoints" and I didn't have to shout either!
