Any idea where I can get some Ducati red touchup paint?

The stone chips and small battle scars on the fairing have been badly touched up with a different shade of red and it looks grim.

I bought some touchup paint from this guy on Ebay -> http://stores.ebay.co.uk/BIKECOLOURS

He is in the UK and has the paint codes for all the Ducati range including 888's. My bike has the original paint and it was an exact match. But if your bikes been painted again then you might have to try a couple. The kit I purchased came with some clear coat as well. I didn't end up using the clear on the red, but it's magic at hiding the stone chip stars in your carbon.

Seems a bit ironic that you are telling me this from the other side of the world when they are based less than 20 mins drive from my front door!

Go to RS Motorbike Paint. No ordering online (or didn;t used to). They like to speka to you on the phone to make sure you are asking for the right model year etc as the shades vary.

I have had the mettalic silver for ST2 and mat Titanium grey for ST4s and they are brilliant. You can get touch up bottles and spray cans, plus all the other bits you need like rubbing compaound, silicone free polish, primer, laquer etc.

I shall be going back to them for tins of red to paint a race fairing fairly soon. I assume they do it in tins for a spray gun too.

Oh yes, and thy cannot shop oversees I don't think. That questions has been asked before. Costs far too much for flamable substances.

OK, totally confused now.

Let me get this straight. The paint codes never change (473.101 and 473.201), the part numbers for various spare parts have never changed, my local Ducati dealer tells me there is only one Ducati yellow (and therefore I presume red), but it seems to be common knowledge there are varying shades of each colour...

How does anyone know with any degree of certainty that anything they buy will match their particular bike??

When Brancato resprayed my tank, he said the hardest job with the match was (something about) the depth of colour, and how it depended on the base it was being sprayed over. Sounded like a pile of S*** to me, but what do I know.

Having bought some paint for recently, for another non bike job, I can say that depending on the supplier, it can be a shade or half shade off. Enough to jump right out at ya. So, in my view, matching it up, it depends on what your plastics have been painted with in the first, second or third .... instance.
