The Dorna Effect

BMW and Aprilia quitting WSBk
production of 300,000 Euro Superbikes
MotoGP Live coverage from main channel terrestrial TV to BT Sport

At this rate its not going to be long before BSB is the second major championship in the world of Motorcycle Roadracing

Must admit I was surprised by the almost complete lack of crowd at Silverstone over the weekend on the EuroSport round up program. No way that event turned a profit!

I suppose that Aprillia and BMW loosing could well have something to do with that.

if Dorna control the rights to motogp and wsbk is that a monopoly? shouldn't the EU monopolies commission have been consulted?

Dorna is actually owned by a London based investment company called Bridgepoint EU. The holding is not significant enough to warrant monopolies commision involvement. However tenure is typically less than 10 years, so expect Dorna to be sold to turn a profit in the near future.

Bit of a shame really.

Best regards,

James
