Have you looked at EBAY ? There was a 1999 996 SPS without the ohlins that has just ended, he wanted 6500 GBP but the highest bid was 4600 GBP I think, let me know IF you want the info. IS it hard to get a track bike without a V5 back onto the road ? If it isnt I know of a great one for a little over 5000 !

I just bought that one (an early Christmas present for myself)!

Just a few weeks ago it was on e-Bay for £7,495 but the bidding only reached £6,300. I watched the auction end without a sale several times. I contacted him, went to see the bike and did the deal outside eBay. I have looked at a few, and this is the best example I have seen. It was also conveniently just 20 mins down the road from me!

996 SPS (Ohlins rear, Showa front)
W-reg
7,000 miles, FDSH
2 owners from new
All the standard carbon bits plus some extras (heel plates, clutch cover, scoops, number plate hanger, chain guard, swing-arm cover etc.)
Three part-worn spare tyres
Black screen plus original clear one
Carbon and standard termis
Datatool Alarm
£700 worth of personalised "SPS" number plate
Brand new MOT
Taxed till May next year

Because of the time of year, and because I knew how long he had been trying to sell it, I haggled hard. We settled at £6,000 for the bike or £6,500 with his "worn-twice" Dainese Ducati Desmosedici leathers thrown-in (they just happened to fit me perfectly and I need a set!). He went for the "with leathers" option.

I just wish it wasn't raining

I'm sure its very good, but I would be suspicious either about the year or the reason that Showa forks have been fitted.

All 2000 onward bikes had grey frame, if its bronze then its a 1999 model. All 2000 models were released with Ohlins front and rear. If its got Showa and its 2000, then they have been retro-fitted.
