Those Siemens relays are pretty crappy.I seem to remember one does the sidestand cut-out,and the other powers the injection/fuel pump.Sounds like one or the other could be faulty.Have replaced both on the missus bike, cost about a fiver. We keep a couple of spares under the seat.

Thanks Phil

Thank you for coming all the way over to Wobbling town from deepest Sussex mate, found an earth wire I'd left off when dismembering the airbox but couldn't trace the dead short circuit that blew the main ignition circuit fuse

Looks like the Monster wont be at Cadwell, does Lizzie have any reserves on her list? Might be best to give it a miss altogether........

Hey - no problem Paul !
Its only a 35min ride over the back roads - but I am going to adjust the beast's poxy headlight (jacked up rear !) before I bring that over again

Guys - We are open to suggestions as to what (other than a fault in the ign switch) could cause a short on the feed side of the main fuse only when the switch is on.
The short is still there with the connectors to the kill/start switch and the ign/coils disconnected.
Our next step is to drop the reg so we can get at the ign connector block at test there. (I bet monsters are hard to hot-wire cos I couldnt get my fingers in there enough to split the block otherwise !)

Paul - I've printed out clearer circuit diagram (oops - it was in my haynes manual all the time !) and I think we really should attempt to hot-wire everything out next time ! (Well the switch and the relay anyway)
I'm ok for a re-match (harris versus ducati !?) on thursday.
I'll bring some more wire

Paul - have you got Alans mob no - cos he says to give him a call about 6.30 tonight & he can try & help?
(but not too much later, as he is off about 7ish to Marks for the evening with the bike, as I am out!)

He doesnt type much - so its better on the phone!

Phil, thanks man, you're a hero mate

I'd be lost without you all cos I'd have to go to a trader and the ones i've spoken to are booked solid for 3 weeks!!
