Hi Guys, What sort of range are you getting out of a full tank on your standard 749, mine is going into the dealer later in the week to be re-tuned, but I was wondering whether it is a bit thirsty or not? I am getting the light come on at 70 to 80 miles and working it out, will run dry at 110 to 120 miles. This is general riding including motorway cruising.
I would guess that is thirsty. My 999s has a 67mm Leo Vinci exhaust system, ecu and DP air filters. Been dyno'd at 145bhp at the back wheel and my fuel light comes on at pretty much 85 miles every time.
It does sound as if the bike is using a lot of fuel,.....are you sure its up to the brim when you fill up? Mind you, those fuel level sensors can be a bit hit or miss. As a comparison,my 999S with assymetric system will do,on average,100 miles before the light comes on.If I'm 'trying',I can get the light on at around 75 miles.
Thanks Guys, sounds like it is a bit thirsty I just wanted an idea so I can tell the dealer when I take it back, it is cutting out on tick-over and also backfires around 4000 rpm, so they are going to re-tune. Will let you know the result.
999s with asymetric termis - anything between 85 - 115miles when the low fuel light comes on. You will get quite a low figure if you dont brim it when you fill up. I always sit on the bike holding the bike absolutely vertical (hell I sometimes get fuel coming out the overflow when I park it back on the stand).
