Oil pump compatability

Hi there,
first post on here so be gentle with the replies

I am just doing a bottom end rebuild on my 853 track bike as had a low oil pressure situation and the engine tightened up - hence the rebuild.

I now haver the option of building the engine with a 996 rs oil pump instead of the one currently fitted. Will this be a better solution ?

thanks

Aaron

I would imagine that the oil pumps don't differ pressure wise (although I don't know for sure) as the oil supply is governed by the pressure relief valve. What I do know is that there are at least two different sizes/tooth shape of oil pump drive gear.
You will need to make sure which ever pump you use the gear is a match for the crank gear.

Hope this helps.
