It's an ST4s engine so, 996cc. I always had plans to replicate the SP pawerband and the original crankcases are a bit weak. The ST4s has some of the best, in fact, if you order a spare set for your 888, it's what Ducati would supply.
Done now, Cosworth hi comp pistions, arrow Ti rod, full balance, 431 inlets and G exhausts, STM cam pulleys, probalbly new clutch bits, maybe a look at the heads, maybe a different set of gear ratios, a load of power grease and off we go to "Big Grin" city.
thanks for letting me grill you how do you like the cams? i have just bought a set of sps cams to go in mine with omega pistoms and 34mm and 30mm valves.
Rob, What gear box ratios do you currently have?. A different set of gear ratios makes a huge improvement over the standard Strada box. When my Strada cases had to come apart (Crank case centre gasket split) I had a 749R box fitted, it all goes in exept for the Counter shaft. This is too long , presumably to give the chain clearance for a wider rear wheel / tyre combo on the 749R. but every thing assemblies onto the original T8 shaft. I assume any 748/749 gear box would go in, and this gives you the same ratios as an SP5. I dont mean to keep banging on about it but the bikes performance with this box is incredible, you lose that huge leap up into sixth. In fact you lose the high sixth completely, as the 748/749 sixth gives the same ratio as the original Strada fifth gear.
