Couple of points; 1) SPS was only introduced in 98 2)decals/clocks are not correct for 97SP 3) 96/97 748 was an SP imported by Moto Cinelli and had KPH clocks 4) Slipper clutch was not standard

Should be on 40mm caliper mounts. So that's new forks on it then Defo a BP subframe. Didn't the sps get a plaque on the top yoke to? Just doesn't look right????? reckon that may be a fibreglass fairing to?? Ducati cans, for the 748 at least, didn't have removable baffles either.

the 65mm caliper mounts will make it easy to upgrade to 4 pad calipers, and if its for a race project ther authenticity isnt so important IMO but you wil need to try and establish the engine spec and condition.
why not buy a salvage bike and perhaps even source a decent engine, kinda build your own.
I think "For a first Duke" there's nothing wrong with it. A good starting point to get to grips with the whole twin riding experence.. Then if you like it? get a proper one. If not sell it and get your money back. Just my two pence worth!!
I also emailed him for the engine and frame numbers, becuase ducati-uk will tell you straight away what it is. no reply from him as yet, looks like one to avoid to be honest.

All the 748's had adjustable steering angle up to '99.
