I've been servicing my bike and alls going well until I came to take the clutch cover off last night, I've removed the 10 allen bolts and used a rubber mallet on the top, bottom and sides but it wont budge.

I dont need a puller for this side case do I?

Hmmmmm....

I wondered if there were more screws - but Haynes also says there are only 10 and that a soft faced mallet is all that should be needed to 'tap' around and break any gasket seal.

Are you taking the clutch cover off or are you taking the clutch housing off??

Clutch cover = about 6 bots
Clutch housing = about 15 bolts + sealer etc

If you are servicing your bike, I would say that you need nly to take the clutch cover off to get to the clutch - why do you need to take the housing off?

On my 620 Sport I can only see the one cover/housing (10 bolts) to remove, there does appear to be some sealant around the edges, so it could be just this that I need to overcome but I wanted to check before I contnue tapping the housing with the mallet.

I need to get into the clutch to check the plates are okay, as Baines said the clutch noise was abit louder/unusual than normal, and could well be broken steel plates which they saw a few times last year.

if you only want to check the plates - surely you only need to take off the clutch cover and NOT the housing???

On some of the wet clutches they are the one and same thing. Depends on model and year, tbh.

Its a wet clutch on the 620s, which is not the same as the 996 type - there is no 6 bolt cover that can be removed.

Glen - if you've checked that all the bolts are out around the casing, it should come off relatively easily.
