Clutch pressure plate removal

When I slide the pressure plate off, the push rod appears to be fixed to it and pulls out with it? Do I just need to tap it loose/free, so the pressure plate slides off, leaving the rod in place? Thought I would do the sensible thing and ask before I reach for the hammer...

That's normal. There's no problem about removing the plate and rod together.

If you need to separate them, you can do it 'off the bike', but normally there's no need.

Make sure the two O-rings on the rod aren't damaged, and clean, then lightly grease the rod before you put it back.

You should just be able to pull the rod out of the bearing. They can be quite tight tho!
