916 45mm Termi Carbon Cans / EPROM

I've just put a pair of 45mm carbon termis on my 1995 916 BP.
They came with the correct chip, but guessing it is fried since the bike doesn't run with it fitted, I've put the original in and all is fine.

Am I safe to run with this set up, or for peace of mind should I get a new suitable chip and replace the standard one?

I wouldn't run it hard without the correct chip as you risk running it too lean (bad).

Replacement chips are cheap (hah !) try JHP.

It is possible fit the chip one pin out of alignment - which _shouldnt_ blow it up.
Alternatively, 1 pin of the chip is bent or broken too short and not making contact.

If you want to send it to me I can check that its ok at work (electronics engineer) and poss still make a copy if its a broken pin.

I've run my 748 with 3 different chips and with different power commander maps with different chips.
If its too lean the performance goes off, and you will know that all is not right !
The engine will run (poorly to badly) with a lean mixture but because it also runs hotter, you really musnt run it lean for any length of time or your piston will let you know it doesnt like it

Pretty sure it was in OK, fuel pump didn't prime with it in.
Re-fitted original and it was fine.

That has happened to me when I was changing a chip without enough light to see what I was doing (doh!)
The offer stands if you want the chip checked out.

Some info I got from Neil at cornerspeed (nelly) that there is a mark on the e-prom denoting which way it should face, some sort of mark on the chip.
Are you aware of any mark on your e-prom, it should face towards the tank

I recently purchased some 50mm Termi`s and got a chip from JHP in Coventry, just under £30 and it came via post the next day, these are recommed by Neil at Cornerspeed
Worth a call
