998 with Termi\'s !!!

Just fitted a set of Termi's & uprated ICU ( Thanks to Yella ) to my 998 Bip , & all i can say is i am amazed at the difference , the engine is transformed from a wheezy v twin to a free breathing , thumping V TWIN that make's the hairs on the back of yer neck stick up !!!
It revs up so much quicker its like a different bike ,especially when you blip on the downshifts & the noise is awsome !!!!

Thanks again to Yella who put up with my feeble/confused attemps to buy the pipe's/ICU

Will hopefully get the bike on a dyno soon !

I'm Surprised Yella didn't try and sell you two pipes off an RGV and a Sinclair ZX81 spectrum as a cpu!!

Totto what size pipes did you fit, are they just 45mm cans or a 50mm half system ???

Cheers Totto, really looking forward to trying out my Hybrid when its finished, if the 998 is that impresive. I will be going with either a 50mm full system or 50mm Half system, unless I can get hold of a 54mm full system at a fair price, have a 998S ECU ready to go along with a TFi fueling computer. Be interested in your Dyno results.

Skidlids have a lookie here
http://www.moto-one.com.au/performan...crossover.html
Thats whay (apart from price i) i went for the 45 Termi's
I know the graphs are for the 996 , but thats all i can find to go by !

I think the 998s/996R ICU are the same unit

From those graphs I can see your logic, i'm just thinking futherdown the road, compared to the 996 the 998 engines have fairly mild cam timing and if I was going to get any tuning done at some point the cams would be high on the list of things to change. then the resulting increaased gas flow would require a higher flowing exhaust just like the 998S and the 998R has. As I'm starting without any exhaust bar a 50mm half system for my 916 ( could try modding the 748RS 54mm system I have) logical step would be to use eithe the 998 BP 45mm exhaust headers or the 998S 50mm headers and up pipe.

Sounds good , it would be interesting to compare a "street" 998 to a "track" one though !

From the link posted by Totto showing the torque drop at 5k rpm for the 50 mm systems, I can confirm that this is a characteristic of the 998s with its std 50mm system. It also occurs with 50mm slip ons and had to be dialed out with a PC3
