Mood: Finally gotten over the 748R getting stolen thing. Actually, no i haven't !
Hope its not my one which was stolen on sunday.
Seriously, fantastic bike in its last incarnation. Easily a match for a 916 and full of all sorts of late spec technology.

£4500, you sure?

Is this being sold by a dealer by any chance ? If so I am aware there was one being sold over ebay that did not sell and fits your description - I was told by them it had never been raced or dropped but it clearly had the remnants of number stickers on the front and the fasteners were missing bar one each side......

Perhaps the old ducati school bikes from Cadwell, not technically raced but a hard life all the same.

Mood: R U thinking what I'm thinking?......Oh dear!
What sort of 916 SPS were you after?? There is a reasonable range of Specifications that might tip the balance one way or the other.

what model year is the 748r?? Ohlins front and rear??

IF its got the Ohlins front and rear AND all the paperwork checks out AND the condition is OK then it sounds like a bargain.

BUT a late 916 SPS (98 or 99?) with the 996 mota is a gonna have the capacity to tip the balance the other way IMHO, it's gonna cost a lot more than £4,500 to buy as well!

Yes but no but yes but no but yes but no but yes but no but..

Difficult call.

Thanks for the help guys

The bike is a 2001 bike with ohlins front and rear, carbon air box.Full service history,7K as new not a mark on her.Guy at work selling it Paid 7k for it last spring and only done 700 miles on it

Think I will leave it and wait for a nice SPS or 996R alot more money but Think it would be worth it in the long run.Cant beat CC's for torque.

PS if any one else is interested send me a message and I will give you his number.

Matt

buy a 'busa for thrills and a 748 for pleasure - trust me, I've got 2 busas and had my dream 996 for fun...500 miles before being stolen, 748 will do me for appreciating geom/handling on a sunny dry day now thanks...relying on cc's for grins is lazy
