fuel leak

thought i would go 4 a spin on my 05 999 on saturday. It started on the button, but strong smell of fuel, looked down towards the floor to see petrol ****ing out all over my exhaust.
Turned it off a bit smartish. on further inspection found both fuel pipes going into the tank at an angle. seems the little plastic clip had come off on one side allowing fuel to spray everywhere.
I dont know if anyone has experienced anything similar but worth checking, could be quite nasty if it happened while riding:O.

Cheers Frank.
Have you had it serviced recently - so could have been missed by garage?

Hi frank, 6000 mile service not due till May, in the meantime have put some ties around them to make sure they don't come off again.

Yep,fuel line routing is critical on these bikes.Sounds like you had a lucky escape from disaster.
The pipes should run down a bit of a tunnel groove under the tank.If not they can foul on the rear cylinder head or the plug cap.Sounds like the pipes may be badly routed and pulled the union apart.

Fuel pipes seem to be running in the channels ok, just going to keep an eye on them.
By the way i've had no prob's with the bike till now and can't wait for better weatherto get riding again.
