888 in MCN

Just spotted an 888 for sale in MCN SP5 looking £3400. Anybody we know selling it?

I saw that too. Advert doesn't say it's an SP5 though. '94 888 (with white No boards added) with 19k miles. Just had full service with new belts, c+s, tyres.

It's not me selling it by the way.

Depends what location it's in. I haven't checked out the ad yet but I know that one of Fordie's work colleagues (works at Luton Airport, so must be somewhere around there) has got an SP lookalike for sale that has recently had all that work done and was looking for that sort of price.

Whatever, it looks like a right bargain for somebody even if it's a Strada

Fordie posted about it a while back...might be worth a search to see if the two add up

Yep, checked the ad now. 01462 is a Hitchin sort of area code, so it could be the same bike that Fordie posted about.

If you buy them I'll have to kill you...cos I can't afford them

If they stay at the start price they're a good buy, but I doubt that they will.

According to this thread http://www.moto-one.com.au/performance/888st4ex.html it seems that 45mm systems are pretty good on Desmoquattro engines, the 50mm system it was tested against didn't offer any advantage. Mind you, these were ST4 and Ducati Performance ST4 headers and Brad Black considers the ST4 headers (45mm) about the best value performance exhaust short of the more expensive 'spaghetti' systems.

Since the Sil system is a 45mm spaghetti, it should be pretty good I would say and pretty good in the bling stakes as well.

Damn...why have the kids grown up so that i can't raid the piggy bank anymore?

Hi, should work ok on a standard or mildly tuned motor, but probably to restrictive for a 'Hot' 926/955/984 race cam motor, shame it isn't a 50mm system, as it looks quite well made.
Steve Robins s.w.
p.s. many years ago John Hacket told me that 50mm headers were the way to go. Brad at moto-one has been very helpfull via e-mail to me in the past, but some of the info he's given me has later turned out to be not quite right for my home tuned bike.
