Steering damper

Just noticed that the (standard) steering damper on my 998 is rubbing against the tank. While it's not taken any paint off the tank, it is marking it.

Anyone else come across this and, if so, how did you fix it?

Cheers.

Have you (or someone else) rem, oved the damper?

If so it may ahave had the mount reffited wrongly.

Me do anything mechanical to the bike? No way Mikey.

I've had the bike from new and as far as I know the damper's never been removed. Not sure how long it's been doing this for but I only noticed it fairly recently.

There's a little rubber "O" ring under the damper mount. These degrade over time which allows too much movement of the rose joint in the damper mount - result, the damper falls back against the tank.

Cheers Neil, that sounds like exactly what's happened. It's going into the workshop today anyway to get some bling fitted so I'll get them to check it while it's in.
