running temp today

The running temp today was very low, max temp the gauge showed was 60 degress sat at traffic light for a long time, then went down to 40 as i got out of town.

Was this down to the bloody cold weather or could i have a dicky sensor/gauge. Does the ambient temp make that much difference to the running temp.

Did anyone else go out today and notice this, my mates s4r was up to around 70.

will apply some tape to the rad just to see if this makes any difference to the running temp to rule out duff sensor/gauge.

This talks about too hot and too cool running temperatures.
