Unhappy Help needed - speedo cable broken

Don't know if anyone can help me out but my speedo cable broke just before the 888 gathering and I've been riding by revs on the tacho since. I'd tried woods for a new one and they've just phoned me back saying that they are no longer available from dealers.

Has anyone else had the same problem or can someone advise as to whether one from another bike may fit?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Phil

I bought one from Ducati Leeds a couple of years ago - they had one in stock. No dealer can carry all stock I guess but, I'd imagine this would be on some dealers shelf somewhere?

I'd of thought all the main Duke dealers would cross-reference each others stock with DUK or am I being a bit simplistic

Good luck - Frank

Hmmm....I would've thought that later cables could be cobbled to fit.

When you think about it, it's only ever the inside cable that breaks...and all that stuff consists of is springy cable with an end that's crimped square. I wonder if there's anywhere that you can just buy a length of inner cable at a precut length?

Aha....good ol' Google.

http://www.speedycables.com/

Nice to know that if the supply of cables on dealers shelves and DSC members spares bins dries up there's still hope

Sorted within 30 minutes of post - thanks neil.

And thanks Jools - Frank. If my dealer experience is anything to go by there will be quite a few owners of older machines who will need to use speedycables.

Would it not be the same one as a similar age SS. Clocks are the same, speedo drive is the same, forks are the same etc. As I've got an SS and an 888 in the garage I guess I should go and check....

M&S Newcastle had one in stock last year (I got the other one) but an SS one fits although it's slightly shorther I believe......

Info that I have lists the SS series cable as item number:

403.1.004.1A

not sure how this relates to the 888 series.

Good luck - Frank
