| I know I'm slightly behind the thread on this, but I felt compelled to comment. IMHO the fastest way over the mountain will ALWAYS involve a little or a lot of air, depending on the power of the bike you're riding. Except in the wet! It's because the "air" is caused by a kicker bump on the left hand side of the track, threequarters up the hill that you don't really feel when you're going for it on a tiddler....but surely know about on a Superbike if you've gotten the power down hard enough at the bottom. You need to maintain enough momentum through the bottom left into the mountain section that the right hander leading into and over the mountain gives you no option but to be cranked over to the right slightly as you crest it. Drive as hard from the right flick as you can/dare and as you reach threequarters up the mountain just back the throttle of slightly and relax your grip. Lean forward and hump the tank slightly but don't bother trying to hang yourself over the mudgaurd as a DD bike will simply not flip you over the back if you've reached this point. Nail it!! The bike may wobble around and tankslap slightly on landing because you're cranked over, but as long as you're on full gas as you land it'll sort itself out no probem. I've never had a steering damper on a DD bike. Pointless. In the wet, the situation is the same for the approach, only ALOT more upright, but keep your ass in the seat over the mountain as you'll spin the rear and waste time if you don't. Hope that's of some use. I'll be watching at Cadwell!   |
