Hmmm,

Isnt owning a bike all about freedom and individuality??? I think 'personalising' your own machine is a part of putting your own stamp on it - for whatever reason.

Likewise - I'm still having a love/hate relationship with my 944ss at times but every time I pull the cover off her - I still cant help but grin

As for desireable goodies - I've always been led to believe that lightweight wheels are where the biggest pay back comes? Magnesium Marchesini, Dymag, Marvic seem to be very popular.

I love the idea of an R1 front end though - time for a look on E-bay I think

Regards - Frank

R1 front end on a Duke !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I thought the same thing but, I remembered a site I looked up for my brother who has a Yamaha TRX850 and they apparently also have the same diameter (50mm) forks as our beloved Dukes.

Here is the link:

http://www.zagazig.co.uk/TRXuk/upgrades.shtml

It looks A LOT WORK but I guess there would be the benefit of light wheels and some of the best brakes on the road if going for the full package.

I wonder how a speedo drive would work or would it be time to get yet another mountain bike computer -

Good Luck - Frank

ps - Apparently RSV's have the lightest production wheels ever made but lets leave that for another thread

Not quite in the same league I know, but Halfords do a mirror which is identical to those fitted to carb SS's/851/888s......and they are £11.99 each compared to £24/£47 for OE non-painted/painted ones....

That's a few pints difference to me!
