What size spanner for cylinder head nuts on a 900ss 91 please. Going to try and get rid of the oil leak this weekend. Anyone have the Ducati special tool to borrow ? Have a top man helping so not all bad. Thanks Kev
15mm. Can't help with the tool i'm afraid, but if you weld a socket mid way down a 15mm ring spanner, you can calculate the torque required at the torque wrench.
15mm ring spanner will do the job-- but you may have to grind the ring a tad thinner to get onto the nut--i used an old spanner and welded an old socket with half inch drive to take the torque wrench along the spanner shaft to make the special tool
I think I used a combination ring / open ended spanner and just happened to have a piece of box section the right size for the ring-end and getting my torque wrench on as well.
The spanner is shown in the Haynes manual - its like a big 'C' shape.
Just had a look at the www.duc.nu site and the workshop manual on there - and the special tool is simply shown as a double ended ring spanner with a square hole tube built into the middle to allow a torque wrench to be fitted straight in.
