Prizegiving

Just in case anyone has not received the email or any non dders want to go along to support:

The awarding of the 2008 Championship trophies along with the other DD trophies will take place at Ducati Coventry on the afternoon of Saturday the March 14th between 3pm and 4pm

Trophies to be Awarded:
Class A - 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Ian Cobby, Mike Dawson, Richard Fogg
Class B - 1st, 2nd & 3rd
Matt Traynar, Dominic Clegg, Harriet Ridley
Golden Tank Award (for Crashing)
Dave Harris Trophy (For the Spirit of DD)
JHP award - For best presented bike (Franco Nisco)

John Hackett is going to try and arrange for Tony Rutter winner of seven TTs between 1973 and 1985 to present the trophies

Afterwards those that want to could pop next door to The Shepherds Inn for a drink.

Best regards

Gordon & Chris

From our perspective we would have enjoyed going along to applaud our fellow riders and buy them a beer, but with 3 weeks notice and a planned trackday we cannot make it.

Hope there is a good turn out to recognise the efforts of those that have won

Sorry you can't make it Lily, I was hoping there would have been a few more days notice.
It was only last Friday that I made a call to John Hacket and said I had a favour to ask, then went up on Saturday morning and sat down with him to discuss it, before going on to the New Era meeting.

I wanted to try and get last seasons trophies awarded before the new season started and with JHP giving one of the awards, along with the back drop of some terrific bikes as well as its central location, it just made sense to ask John if we could use his place.

Trying to get Tony Rutter along was John's idea and it will be great if he is there, not only was he a 7 times TT winner but also 4 times world champion.
In 1981 he began his World F2 Ducati Era racing a factory 600 which I think makes him a great choice for awarding the trophies to riders also racing Ducati 600s

Well done Kev'

I was in there today.....I was just passing honest

A great choice of venue, Ducati's wall to wall and a racing pedigree second to none.

I just hope that the staff don't hold me to the offer I made at dinner time today other wise John H' will not be a happy bunny....

I told 'em all to tell Mr. Hackett I'd bought his Supermono....

....God that's a beautiful bike.....

And for those that are a bit younger than me and maybe not taken much interest in the TT, Here's his TT history.

you can see from the pics the bike Griff raced in DD was based on

Well done Kev
I noticed that there was no "Life Time Achievment Award", maybe next year you have my vote

Looks like the same bike that he rode at Castle Combe in 2007 when we were there racing in DD

It's a great idea and a great location, just a shame we cannot attend.

Hope everyone else can make it and make it special for those that have won prizes
