weird cut out

having myself a smashing little thrash around on sunday. as i went to overtake a car, checked mirrors, indicated engine died??
looked down at lcd display and it was as if ignition was off, so i turned off ignition and on again and every thing was fine, just let out the clutch and she restarted.
caught back up with car and went to overtake again, mirror, indicator and engine dies again just like before.
stops has a look over bike everything seems fine
indicate to pull off, engine dies!!

so i seem to have an indicator switch that is killing the ignition. not the engine the whole lot just shuts down

rode back home being carefull not to use the indicators, after a while i forgot and used them, but every thing was o.k
seems to have cured it self
hasn't done it again since

any one got the faintest idea how an indicator switch can kill the ignition.

Glyn. If your electrics are anything like the 996's check the rear indicators first. There is a lead that connects from the ECU Engine Control Unit to the bulbs ,if ther'e earthing some where could short out the ECU . Front ones are connected differantly 4D
