Mallory Festival of 1000 bikes - 10/12 July

THE 2009 VMCC FESTIVAL OF 1000 BIKES, THE BIGGEST & BEST UK TRACK WEEKEND!

After another record breaking event in 2008 the VMCCs Festival of 1000 Bikes returns to Mallory Park on the weekend of 10th/11th/12th July 2009.

With Carl Fogarty making a rare track appearance plus the new Norton Rotary with Michael Dunlop fresh from the TT, yet again the VMCC Festival of 1000 Bikes offers the biggest & best line up of star riders. With the support of Footman James insurance Brokers, Bonhams Auctioneers, Mortons Motorcycle Media, The National Motorcycle Museum the Ace Cafe & ERIKS, the 2009 event promises to be another weekend to remember.

As in previous years the event gives enthusiasts the opportunity to ride their own machines in multiple track sessions over the weekend. Catering for all classes of machines from the earliest Veterans through to the machines of the super bike era this is a truly inclusive event which reflects the wide range of interests within the VMCC. With lesser noise restrictions on Sunday the Festival will again allow for riders to display their racing machinery in special track sessions running throughout the day.

There is so much to do & see apart from the track action we have listed below all the on & off track activity. Whilst most of the timetable is now in place we still have one or two more surprises to announce as regards our Past Masters & Celebrity riders. Keep checking the press or event website www.vmcc.net
for updates.

TRACK SESSIONS (Sat 11th & Sun 12th July)

Track sessions in which anyone can ride their own solo or outfit will take place over both days of the event. Machines will be grouped according to type with Road Machine Sessions on Saturday 11th and Sunday12th July and Race Machine sessions on Sunday 12th July only. Some Track sessions are still available for Road machines on Saturday 11th July but you will need to be quick!

PRE 65 TRIAL (Sat 11th July)

The Taverners section of the VMCC will again be organising a pre-65 Trial which will be taking place on Sat 11th July 2009 in the wooded area next to Gerards bend, entries from VMCC HQ.

GRASS TRACK (Sun 12th July)
The Grasstrack will be held on Sunday 12th July 2009 on a great course which is situated just outside the Mallory pay-line near Kirkby Mallory Church.
This year the Grasstrack Demonstration promises to be just as good as last years exciting event with excellent racing with close dices and fearless passing. The format of the demonstration this year follows the usual structure of VMCC Grasstrack meetings.
Organised by the Grass Track Section of The VMCC for more details and an entry form please contact the entries secretary via VMCC HQ

SPRINT DEMONSTRATION (Sun 12th July)

The Sprint Section’s dedicated team of volunteers and their members will once again put on a Display of Alcohol Burning, Tyre Smoking and Ear Shattering action on the Mallory Start & Finish straight. We will have two sessions during Sunday 12th July.
For 2009 there will be a large marquee in the Race Paddock where many of the machines appearing in the demonstration will be on display as well as some historic machines from the past to represent the high points in Sprinting History.
Organised by The Sprint Section of the VMCC more details can be gained by visiting the dedicated website: - www.vmccsprint.co.uk

PAST MASTERS PARADE (Sunday 12th July) THE BEST IS BACK!

None other than 4 times World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty MBE will be riding a very special race machine in our “Past Masters” track feature on Sunday 12th July.

Also following Norton’s return to the 2009 TT with Michael Dunlop on the new Norton NRV Race Machine both man & machine will be out on track in a feature that will also include some special celebrity guest riders aboard the new Norton Commando road bikes!

Keeping with a Norton theme Sammy Miller MBE will be giving the first public track outing to the newly restored “Lowboy” prototype race machine. Courtesy of the National Motorcycle Museum, four of the Original Norton Rotary Race Machines will be out on track with the original riders on board including Steve Spray, Trevor Nation, Ian Simpson & Terry Rymer

One of the bikes foggy is riding was in getting a looking at John Cellier's.
Whitham might be have a go round on it as well, jollied the owner up by telling him how the Whit managed to smash a supersport winning trumpet into two pieces at the Goodwood festival of speed
