V piece Bolts....?

Anyone had bother with the upper bolts on the v-piece which attach to the inside of the side panels?

The tapped hole on my left hand panel is knackered (was like this when I bought bike).
It looks like a steel nut has been glued into the hole but this popped out couple of nights ago when I was putting bike back together.

Any ideas on how to fix it, tried Araldite but it didn't hold very well.

Try some resin from Isopon body filler or the like. Its a common problem

Hellicoil, about £5-10 at any bike shop, had one of mine strip.

You need a new Tapex Insert. I have some on the bench ready to be epoxied into virgin panels.

Don't you just hate those things..? Cr*p design, in my opinion. In fact, they're almost as bad as the useless chain adjusters. (Every time I adjust the chain on my 888, it practically crabs sideways along the road..!)

Talk about 'spoiling the ship, for a ha'porth of tar'. Did the same team who designed the desmo valve system really come up with these things??

Rob, where'd you get the tapex inserts, think thats what I'm going to need.

Managed to get a plain old hex nut to hold last night but it doesn't let me get the screw in far enough!!!!!!
Held the v-piece in to allow me out to ride the bike, which is funnily enough the reason I bought it.

Thought I had the bike sorted and everything spot on before this. This Ducati 'character' can show in loads of ways eh!!!!!

Managed to order/blag them for one of the retailers. Try Clarendons or some such.
