Ducati Xerox Junior Team confirmed for 2009

2009 Riders
Tuesday Jan 13 2009 - 2009 Riders SIMEON AND BERETTA TO RACE WITH THE DUCATI XEROX JUNIOR TEAM IN THE 2009 SUPERSTOCK 1000 FIM WORLD CUP

The Ducati Xerox Junior Team confirms it’s participation in the 2009 Superstock 1000 FIM World Cup and announces Xavier Simeon and Daniele Beretta as the two riders on board the Ducati 1098R next season.
Xavier Simeon has already completed two seasons in the Superstock 1000 category and is one of the most interesting youngsters of recent seasons. 2008 was a very good year for the Belgian rider who ultimately finished fourth in the classification with 136 points, having achieved five podium places which included two race wins.

Daniele Beretta will race in the 1000cc category for the first time in 2009. The young rider from Bergamo (Italy) progresses from the European Superstock 600 series in which he has participated for the last four years. He closed the 2008 season in sixth place overall.

SERAFINO FOTI (Team Manager - Ducati Xerox Junior Team) – “We are very happy to welcome Xavier Simeon and Daniele Beretta to the team. Xavier is one of the most talented riders in the 1000cc category and we are confident he will be able to help us to continue the winning streak that has seen us take the last two championship titles. Daniele is very young and new to the category but I’m sure that team-work and the presence of a more experience team-mate will help Daniele to grow professionally and achieve some strong results. We plan to carry out initial tests at the beginning of January. I would like to thank Brendan Roberts and Domenico Colucci and wish them both lots of luck for the future.”

XAVIER SIMEON – Xavier Simeon was born on August 31st 1989 in Etterbeek (Belgium). He began racing in karting competitions at a very young age and in 1998 he was Belgian vice-champion of the Mini category. The following year he began to race bikes, starting with Pocket Bike categories. He grew professionally and in 2002 he demonstrated his talent in the Spanish 70cc Trophy. From 2004 he took part in various Spanish series’ and was consistently one of the fastest riders. Finishing fifth in the European Superstock 600 series in 2005, his first season racing internationally, Xavier went on to take the title in the same series in 2006, winning ahead of Niccolò Canepa. He moved up to the 1000cc category in 2007 and this year continued to race in the same category, fighting for the title until the very last round before finally finishing in fourth position, having won races at Monza and Donington.

DANIELE BERETTA – Daniele Beretta was born in Bergamo on February 13th 1989. At just seven years old he began to ride mini-motos and over the following years he won regional titles and was one of the front-runners in national championships. In 2003 he moved up to participating in various 600cc categories. In 2005 Daniele raced in the Suzuki GSX-R 750 Cup, finishing eleventh. From 2005 onwards he took part in the European Superstock 600 series and has improved each year, finishing the 2008 season in sixth place overall, his best result so far.

Let me get this straight.... you can finish 11th in a one make series and the sixth in euro-nutter class and Ducati will give you a factory ride?? Are the results not telling the whole story or does he have gold dubloons falling out of his pockets???
