You're missing the point. It isn't better. It's gay user-friendly bike for those who can't handle a proper man's bike.

anyone who thinks a standard set 999 is better for the track is having a laugh
the first thing racers do is jack them up and put the weight over the front
which negates all the "o its such a more comfy bike than the 916" argument
a 998 is as fast as any 999 as Frankie demonstrated to great affect

All i am going to say is i put the 999R back on the road and bought a 996 for the track, i think that sais enough.
