Any of the other 620 Sport owners ever drained their tanks?

Should the "drain" allen bolt have a washer on it?
(Mine doesn't but I would have expected a fibre or aluminium one to be there to help seal the joint between bolt and steel tank)

I ask as I'm trying to fix a very small leak that is coming from the rear of the tank somewhere.

The workshop manual I have shows two exploded diagrams of the petrol tank but no reference to this allen drain bolt.

Don't know about the bolt, but I know that the leak is common. Tonio had it last year, it was under the plate which the hinge mounts to, and right bugger it was to fix. We ended up using lots of tank goo and it just about worked, but I wouldn't recommend it!

Tonio did mention the leak when I bought the bike, I was just hoping it might be something easy to fix ... looks like I need to investigate this plate some more then.

I took the tank to the welder who usually fixes the leaking SSie tanks coming from ProTwins. And I think they did a good job on it. What you can try is replacing the bolt I used by the real Ducati bolt as its shape is like the bolt and the washer are the same part...

That's because the tank which is fitted on the 620 must come from a 750 or a 900 SSie. The standard 620 tank (the gray one) doesn't have a drain hole... That's why I used the first bolt I found.

Thanks for the info I'll try and order the right allen bolt for a 750/900 tank then, I didn't realise the other grey tank didn't have a drain bolt - not looked at the bottom of it yet oops!

On my 916 tanks I have used a copper brake banjo washer to do the job, would probably have used a Dowty seal if I had had one about at the time, but the copper one did the job
