Well, I've decided to get some lightweight wheels for my SP4, is there anybody with experience of using them on the bike able to recommend the best choice?
....but your problem here is going to be finding some. Both Rob and I have had to adapt the fronts to fit and I even had some issues with the bike as it was a corse wheel. The rears are like rocking horse poo !

Both brand new...back was a freebie in some old dealer stock I bought and the front I managed to get in some other bits I bought. List price for both (if you can source any) is about £1300 I think..
Jim bob, have a look at www.yoyodyneti.com They do Marvic magnesium wheels for 888s at about $2000 a set. No idea what shipping would be but price may work out comparable to marchesini.
I don't know what country your in but Dymag make new 5 spoke wheels to fit the 888. Marchesinis are no longer made in the classic patterns. Lots of new, supertrick stuff available though. I'm not so sure it looks right on the 888 though. Just my £0.02 worth.
Im in Milton keynes land thanks for the tuppence! Somebody told me all non-single sided wheels up to teh new shape ST's fit these bikes - is this true ??
Does anyone know whether the OEM Monster S4 marchesinis are lighweight to the same degree as aftermarket marchy's / dymags etc? cheers jim
Jim...the 888 uses the very early spindle size so what youve heard isnt quite right mate !!
Standard monster/ST wheels arent lightweight either so the only benefit youd get (bearing in mind youd need to modify them quite a bit anyway) would be cosmetic as there only marginally lighter than what youve got !!
I bought a pair of Monster Mags and sold the front on (see below).
I had already installed a mag front (thanks to Nat and Rich of Louigi-Moto)
Anyway, the ally OEM rear you mention weighs about five pounds more (about a pound less than the standard Brembo 3 spoke - from memory) the mag rear I have. The rear is a big 25mm axle compared to the 17mm of the 888. I will be making the conversion to the big axle but it requires a load of hardware from a monster or an ST to make it possible, an that's assuming you have a standard rear brake; I don't so I'll be fabricating that up from stock.
Also, the cush drive will possibly need machining, depending which combination of parts you end up with.
Gaaaargh! this is a blooming nightmare isn't it? I think I'd be better off gettin some new 'uns... Can i buy some dics off a monster or something to fit the new wheels/ existing brakes on the 888?
