The later engines used plastic cambelt covers,similar to the 900.Note the clutch casing is also completely differant.
Sprocket covers are also differant,..the early bike has a more rounded cover.

Nice pics, from those i've defo got the early engine. This is why i wanted to ask it's too easy to make an expensive mistake with parts, even the dealers seem to struggle with this on some of the more obscure parts.

Still more money to spend on other stuff............
