You're getting a 999R?
Hmmmmm...... those new coils are from the 05 models? Every models or just the R model?

How does that work then.... Just had a look at mine, there made in germany... BERU
the 04 bike had the old coils fitted (they look like the the spark plug caps but with thinner wires) these coils had the connector plug attatched the the coil at the cylinder head. the new 05 ish ( as some later bikes came with the new coils) have a cable leading off from the coil about 10cm with a connecting plug on the end. to tell the difference - on the rear / standing cylinder the sparkplug cap/coil should just be visible from the left hand side. if the plug attaching to this coil is stituated directly on the cylinder head this is the old type

Old type on mine then Only a matter of time then !!
the problem is with these old coils and plug arrangement is that the contacts in the wiring plug (AMP type) start to corrode and build up a layer of oxydisation on the mating faces thus causing an earth fault to the front (mostly) cylinder. the short term rectification is to disconect the coil and remove it .
inspect the inner contacts of the LT wiring plug looking for green tinge the the contact faces do the same to the coil spray a little WD40 into/onto the coil Lt plug iff it happens all the time then twist the metal prongs inside the coil 1-2 deg to help induce a better / tighter fit to the LT plug
