Does 749R use the same kind of rear hugger as a regular 749? I am looking for parts and needed to find out which fits and which doesn't.

The hugger to use is dicteted by the type of swinging arm.
Pre 05 - the 999r and thne 749r had unique huggers as they were the only ones with the fabricated swinging arms.
The 05 bikes now have similar arm.

In answer to your question - you cannot use a pre-05 hugger on a 749R UNLESS it was designed for the 749R/999R.
