Fuel leak

Hi all,

I have a '96 748, absolutely love the machine, although recently I have aquired a petrol leak.

I discovered this when the bike was parked up on it's side stand. Even when she is on the pit stand, there is a leak. I have taken off the fairing to attempt to find the source.

Before I start stripping the bike down, has anybody else out there had a similar problem?

Cheers

Whereabouts are you seeing the leak?
Drips on the floor?
Staining on the engine casings?

I had the latter (visible on the rear cylinder), and it turned out to be no more than a frayed fuel pipe connection under the tank.

That'd be my first port of call.

Hi,

first I noticed the puddles on the floor, after stripping the body work, there are drips of fuel on the exhaust at the back of the engine block.

g'day mate

has the fuel tank been off? i had a problem with my bike after i removed & refitted the tank. underneath the tank there are 3 quick release type valves & the one of the o rings to these become damaged & let fuel by.

also when i have filled the tank completley & put the bike on its stand fuel has leaked from the overflow (breather?) pipe

G'day,

Yup, the overflow was the first thing I thought about, no joy. I will have look under the tank for corroded pipes or o rings....

Thanks
