Howdo!

I fitted a set of 848 forks and radial 4 pad calipers to my Superlight and a Brembo radial M/C.................. The bike has V strong progressive braking, couldn't ask for more. Works in town as well as from 160+ (Closed road don't want to upset the fun police).

M/C is definitly the way to go to get the best from the brakes. Me GSXR is a cracking bike apart from the brakes, as soon as I've sold me other kidney it's on the shopping list!

Cheers Pablo

Frank,

The Supersport (and 748, Chris) brake master cylinder is 16mm and is not a good hydraulic ratio match to the Brembo 4 pad calipers. The 749/999 radial master cylinder is 18mm and would be a good choice— any 18mm actually.

Radial pumps actually don't offer better stopping power, so a conventional 18mm unit will also work well.

Thats interesting, I have a set of 848 forks and yoke I'm selling. Was it much work to change?

Yep, found that out, that is why I converted a set of 749/999 radial master cylindrs to use with the P4 calipers I fitted to my 748, as per the thread that I posted a few years ago about the conversion that Ant kindly relocated for me fter I failed to find it .

BTW, if the 749/999 is a ratio of 18mm, what is the ratio of the latest 1098/1199/Penigale master cylinders?

Thanks Larry,

A matching radial master from the same bike arrived today although it needs a little work. Looks like I need to get a pressure operated switch for the brake light switch to work. Fingers crossed its an 18mm.

18mm diameter (same as the 749/999), with a 19mm piston-fulcrum distance (don't remember what the 749/999 distance is).

Initially had a set of Monster S4r forks but found out there where damaged, this led to the 848 forks. Main issue was the lack of alloy on the top yoke (Bottom would have to be shimmed) So Mick at Pro-Mach made some adjustable yokes for the bike, also had to knock up some shims to fit the front wheel after converting the speedo drive to the rear wheel.

Cheers Pablo
