Mood: Happy as Larry!!!
Just to confuse octo even further, the proper title of a Foggy rep is -916SPS FOGARTY REPLICA,so it's not even a 996!
Well ok then,it's got a 996SPS engine!
I was talking to BDG at the bike show, the 998 engine is a far better bet!
I own a Foggy rep & a Bayliss rep(very similar to a 996R) & in standard trim the 998 is the better bike, not that the Foggy isn't a great bike & piece of history,it's not quite as good as the 998!
But both are loads better than ANY of those ugly 999's!

Roll on the "standard" V4!!!

I may be wrong

If its the riding ex, you want and you can get more out of any of the models you have mentioned here [1] you is a much better rider than me [2] you ride roads that i aint found yet [3] you is down to be the next world champ. I have heard people going on about my .S. has 1 b.h.p. more than the last model but realy does it matter I have a 900ss 94 and a 916sps 98 and must admit i do enjoy the 900 as much as the 916 perhaps caus while i dont want to bin it it aint the end of the world if i do! i can push her a lot more as i want to ride /keep the 916 mint condition/ long term investment me thinks.yous pays yer monies fer what yer wants geezer......

yes mate. The purists will say that the 996r had titanium con rods. But they are all 998cc. around 136hp

I wouldn't buy a bike as a long term investment. Buy the one you want to use and enjoy it

Just to be pedantic...moi!!!

The 996R only makes 135bhp, whereas the 998S and i believe some of those pig ugly thing 999's also make 136bhp.

a full one bhp difference. I think my fat ar$e seat of the pants dyno would struggle to detect that difference, indeed its cheaper to lose some weight and go on a diet, which is what i'm doing.

(p.s. yes Andy i know you said 'around' 136bhp) I'll get my coat.......

Now if were talking 998s.(Im sure rcgbob'll be along in a minute). Some 998s are quite rare. Get yourself a UK 998s mono in red of course.. 1 of 27 and Keefyb lost one of those......
Where are you test riding?
