MORE ADVISE REQUIRED PLEASE WITH BENT FOOT REST FIXINGS.

Sorry but i need your advise again chaps. My off has resulted in the right hand foot peg fixing lugs being bent back. Now these are tapped lugs welded to the frame. So far i have screwed bolts back in and tried to straighten the lugs, but all that happens is the bolts bend. Have also placed a large washer up to the lug and tightened a slim socket up so as to add leverage, still it just bends the bolt.
Have any of you had this problem and how did you bend them back. I do not realy want to strip the bike down to do this if i can help it.

Kev, my advise would be to bend one lug at a time. Normally one lug is bent more than another, so bolting the bottom hole of the rearset to the top lug and carefully using a hollow tube on the peg, will work better than mounting it the normal way. Then use the top hole for bottom lug.

Use a large pair of adjustable spanners, with something inbetween them and the paint to stop it scratching...

Can\'t you just refit the footpeg mount and use that to lever it staright again?

....that way you'll get the leverage and you 'll know that the mounts will line up. If its too tough to move, use some an open ended spanner to get more leverage on the footpeg mount.

Or, alternatively........If that doesn't work, simply refit the footpeg, hold the bike upright from the front and whilst pushing it backwards, let go and make sure it falls on the right side, landing on the footpeg!!!

If you need further adjustment, just repeat the above process until you're satisfied that its straight!!!

If you overdo it, just push it forwards and drop it again!

I'll get my (carbon) coat!!

I had that problem once. Don't try and bend it back with the foot rest, all you would end up doing is break the footrest.
Take some big adjustable spanner and bend it back with them. **** of ****.

The method I've used to straighten them out is to use some long shoulder (or machine) screws. They are used for dowelling machine fixtures etc.
These have the right thread, but then the bolt diameter increases.
They are usually made from high tensile steel so are less likely to bend.
Use a washer to protect the paint and then screw one into each mounting.
You can then slip a hefty tube over them to get the leverage needed.
Do each mount a little at a time to protect the weld.

Done the same as Rattler here, use the original rearset etc, only bolt one point at a time, place large scaffolding tube, etc over footpeg and lever the bracket back into position, repeat on next mounting point...... voila, 10 minute job.

It will be, move it a little- a little more- a little more and SNAP !!!!!!
I know before i have even started.
