my rear shock (showa-748bip) seems a bit "slack" i can grab the spring with my hand and move the whole shock from side to side, i think it needs to be adjusted, looked in the manual and saw that there are three ways to adjust, do i have to adjust these in a particular order or do i just tighten them all up ??? thanks
What are the three methods of adjusting in the manual you are referring to? If you are referring to compression, rebound and preload, then no, dont just tighten them all up! I cant think of anything else it says in the manual about adjusting the rear shock? I dont think that the rear shock should really move from side to side, but the whole unit can be rotated slightly if you try and twist the reservoir, but its not a significant amount. How much can you move your shock? Have you checked the top and bottom mounting points to make sure that they are correctly tightened and haven't worked loose?
If it's anything like mine you won't be able to adjust the collar and adjuster on the top cos it's a: stuck solid b: you can't get a decent purchase on the thing cos the wheel/frame/exhaust get in the way . c: if you get hold of it you have about an inch of space to work with
I paid 30 notes at a trackday to a guy who attends some of them, advertised as Shockwave. Best money ever spent. Dont know if he advertises on the web, but worth a look. Based in SE england somewhere If I find his URL, I'll send it via u2u or post it on the board rgds mort
