ST2 Alloy clutch - worth it?

Well if I end up keeping the ST2, how much does an "alloy clutch" replacment kit cost and does it really make the clutch any less rattley?
Thats my only moan about my bike !!

Well, if you're buying clutch plates anyway the difference in cost between steel and ally plates is negligable. I had ST4S ally plates fitted to my ST2 the first and only time that I needed them changed. Far quieter and less prone to a notchy clutch action.

My main logic for fitting them was that the clutch basket is steel, plates made of softer ally won't hammer the clutch basket into little ridges so easily because it's the plates that will take the knocks. The plates are going to wear out anyway and are easy to change, whereas a basket isn't rocket science to change but still a bigger job

Buy from a ducati dealership or somewhere else ?

Thanks

Yep, you only need the ally plates from an ST4S clutch pack. I had mine done a few years and around 15,000 miles ago, but I seem to remember that they were around the £120 mark from a Ducati dealer

I have an ST4S with 32k miles on it now, still on the orgiinal clutch.
It is now making the same noise as my 996 used to when that had only 10k miles on it.

I've heard lots of reports of the various aftermarket options, and they all end up rattling at some point, just some quicker than others.
Have a read of this thread: http://www.ducati.ms/forums/archive/...hp/t-4244.html
and maybe this one too: http://www.hunterdogs.org/Discussion...hp?topic=193.0

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
John.
