paint details for the gold on magnesium parts

Hi,

The magnesium parts on 749 & 999r's are painted in a satin gold paint.

Would anyone know the details for this paint ie: paint code, make, colour, where to buy it from ?

the trouble with magnesium is that it will always try to revert back to its orinal state,if you get so much as a pinprick in it air will oxidize under it and cause a loss of adhesion (like paint flaking off).
The only way to do a proper job on it is to have it re-chromated.

Chromate IS a painted finish. Trust me, I re-chromated enough stuff while I was in the RAF. It's sprayed on like paint, and as you say, chips off like paint. There are various sources to obtain the stuff, just stick chromate into google and see what comes up.
