So are we still entitled to our money back from ESS even though MSV have taken over the date??

Ade.

I would think so, you have to pay MSV to do the Monday now so it's effectively a completely different event.

I've decided to book Tuesday with Focused Events, just in case Monday doesn't happen for whatever reason.

Anyone who held back from booking on this missed a really good day.
At very short notice, Focused Events loaned a team to MSV to allow it to happen so quickly.
There were only about 46 people ... so that shook down to 2 groups, with a session every 20 minutes !
Yes, completely knackering for everybody - but because the track was only running about the same number as a race - there were very, very few offs.

Well over half the people there had never ridden brands before !

To MSV - many thanks from all of us for organising the rescue.
To Focused Events - thank you for a very slick event. Several people have said they will put your events at the top of their lists.
To the cynics - count the numbers - it costs about 4k just to run the brands track let alone all the other costs - and there were only 46 @ £125 - but they still ran the event.
To ESS - that was the bit that counted - they picked up the pieces, let all the marshals know what was happening, told us what was happening, and ran the event.
(Some marshals had not heard - and had just booked their ferry for cartagena !)

Phol_h says "it costs about 4k just to run the brands track"

Where did that figure come from?????

ESS would not have got the circuit for £4K. They would have to pay the going rate to hire it - 1 x 9am to 5pm day costs £13,865 for the indy circuit and of the £125 each person paid, £19 went to the VAT man.

MSV on the other hand, had already been paid for the circuit hire some 28 days ago by ESS.

So, far from running the day out of the kindness of their hearts - they scooped over £19,000 for the day (minus expenses). Mr Jonathon Palmer must be laughing all the way home in his helicopter.

It makes me quite angry to see riders praising the circuit owners (like MSV) when it’s these greedy B’stards that are putting the likes of ESS out of business with their extortionate rates for track hire. If you don’t agree with me then explain how they can justify charging over £28,000 for a 2 mile section of tarmac (GP circuit) for 7 hours, and in addition charge £200 for the photographer, £200 for tire support, £200 for suspension set-up, payment for security, and whats more 25% of the cost of the day has to be paid a year in advance.

Grrrr, where are my blood pressure tablets…..

1) That's a quote from the msv circuit manager - it's what it _costs_ to let people on the track.
2) ESS were already on a 'special plan', so no, they hadnt fronted all the money, and they probably owe a lot of people a lot of money, and their 'trustablity rating' will now be at a very low ebb, however nice they are.
3) there is not a 'going rate', there's a rate you start negotiating at. that's business when you have a large facility that lots and lots of people want to use but dont want to pay anything for.
4) there's nothing wrong with being a cynic, just keep to facts and people might even stop swearing at you
5) business is hard, not easy, ess got the business bit wrong and have left a fair number of people very angry
6) the credit card companies will get more business from those people than the debit card companies now, cos they got _their_ business right
7) keep taking the tablets, I'm just passing on information !
