So can you fit 916 50mm throttle bodies on a 748bp then....?

And the gains are probably not worth it, unless you change the cams, compression, valve timing etc at the same time.

Tell me more about this option.

For example, does the 54 mm shower injectors need the ECU and wiring loom or can it be spliced to a 748/996 loom.

I expect that the inlet rubbers would have to be the ones that are fitted to the 54 mm bodies?

Would I have to run the R type larger air box to make it worth it?

you would need a different ECU and loom.
the twin injectors on the 996 both work at the same time.
the shower set up on the R's work separately and the 996 ECU cant do this.
with regard to the air box I believe you would also need the R's air box as yes its larger. but there is also the need to supply the fuel to the shower injector which there is no provision for on the standard box.
Allot of hassle for little gain IMO.
