Any good? Saw this on ebay, just wondering if these are any good, seems handy for those of us who do a fair few trackdays.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=2457623 715 |

Don't know if they're any good, but let's assume you get over here for 70 quid all told. Ducati filters are a tenner, roughly. You change your oil once year, on average, that's 7 years of oil filters! Plus you have the hassle of having to clean the bugger each time. I'll pass, I think. |

Are you for real?! You only change your oil/filter once a year?! I change mine every other track day, so assuming I do 12 this year, 70 quid aint too bad - the fact its metal means it can filter smaller particles too, and it does look pretty damn nice |

Once a year is average for most Ducatis. Obvisouly if you do a lot of track days or racing it's much more frequent. How do you figure that metal filters smaller particles than a good paper filter? |

A paper filter is cheap and cheerful - Its not worth them making one that filters particles that small if its only gonna sell for 6 or 7 quid, on the other hand the metal filter is a precision item, selling for a fair bit more. If you compare any disposable item to its reusuable counterpart (pens, lighters, cameras etc) it is always inferior in terms of performance, build and materials |

I don't do many trackdays, unfortunatly but i change filter with the oil every 1500 miles. This is at least 4 times a year. |

The reason paper filters are cheap is because they make them by the billions. It'll be a better filter than the metal one. If you want to buy one for looks or coolness, great, but it won't beat the paper filter for filtering performance. There have been lots of detailed studies done on cartridge filters and a good standard filter is very hard to beat. |

Fair enough, although a company such as Scotts are hardly likely to go making fraudulent claims about how well-performing their products are, especially in a country where you can probably get sued for farting! From their website: Quote:
They don't use paper filters for blood filtration do they? [Edited on 9-2-2004 by DJTera] |
