Just bought a 2005 Monster 1000 and I have a problem. The bike cuts off while riding and it cannot be restarted. When I try to restart it, all proper control panel lights light up, however when you push the starter button nothing happens. The bike was hauled back to the dealer and they found the 10 amp key sense fuse was blown. They replaced the device that surrounds the ignition switch (transmitter) and that appeared to fix the problem. However, the bike did exactly the same thing today and left me stranded again. The bike has about 100 miles on it. I will contact the dealer tomorrow, but if any one has an idea of what is going on I would appreciate your input.
Are the injectors priming?(Buzzing noise from the tank as the key is turned.) Could be one of the crappy Siemens relays that control the injection. There has also been a lot of ECU failures on the later bikes, either way,its a warrenty job.
Hi, welcome to the DSC, mines a glass of red please
sorry to hear of your woes, but as Keefy says - there have been a few recent probs with ECU's.
Also, check the wire that goes into the bottom of the fuel tank - make sure there is no chafing, as this blew the same fuse on AK's bike. It shorted out the fuel pump - which blew the fuse!
Wire from fuel pump leading into fuse box was short on insulation and was shorting out on a metal bracket. Yes!! and now it is time to ride and then uncork the champagne and have a few pistachios. Appreciate the helpful comments.
