Mood: Bloo and Yellow.. and Red now ;)
Most of the service schedule is based around mileage.
6k service is plugs, oil, filters, valves etc.
12k as the 6k plus fork oil, brake/clutch fluids, coolant and belts.
6k service is generally termed the annual service and 12k is two years.
Even if you don't do 12k in two years, it's worth having the fluids changed as they degrade over time.
You can get an idea of what's involved by checking your service book. It lists all the operations by mileage.
btw.........IMO it's worth having the belts changed at 6k. Cheap insurance

Not well up on the four valve bikes but 500 is too much.

Not sure if your serious about the blueprint Weeksy (not sure what the term means any way).

Change your lcutch fliud whiel your doing your brakes, every 2 years i normally advise.

People neglect the clutch which is allways a bad idea when it comes to Ducati's.

ok so a brand new bike (in which each componant is within the manufactures spec is allready blueprinted)?

My take on the word (i dont really know) is that each componant is changed to its optiuim (ie better than new) tolerance, so for example if the small end tolerance is 0.01 - 0.05mm then it should be 0.01, if its 0.02 its replaced. I would take this to mean better than new and involve not OEM parts as these only meet manufacturers tolerance. if i go out and buy a new rod it will come in anywhere between 0.01 and 0.05, so i cant use OEM parts, hence its mega expensive.

I was looking at a blueprinted GSXR600 motor and the owner wanted 6 grand for it. must be mad like, but Ouch.

Anyway we digress...
